For safety reasons and because of space considerations the right to have animals transported (in particular domestic animals such as dogs, cats, tame birds etc.) only applies when the intended animal transportation has been booked and the booking confirmed. The animal must be placed in a suitable and safe transport container which has been provided by the passenger. The decision as to whether and how a particular animal can be transported lies with Helvetic Airways.
Transportation of animals in the passenger cabin
A supplementary charge of CHF 35.00 per flight route will be levied for each animal up to 7 kg (including transport container) which is to be transported in the passenger cabin. This charge is to be paid at the time of booking. Only a limited number of animals per flight can be transported in the passenger cabin. The container must not exceed the following dimensions: 56 cm long, 32 cm wide, 27 cm high, must be water resistant and remain shut and on the floor of the cabin during the entire flight and must be stowed under the seat in front during take-off and landing.
Transportation of animals in the air freight space
Animals (domestic animals) which are heavier than 7 kg will be transported in the air freight space. This incurs a charge of CHF 15.00 / kg. The animal must be in a suitable and safe transport container, likewise water resistant. The charge is calculated on the basis of total weight (animal and container) and must be paid at the check-In desk.
The air carriers accept no liability for potential health hazards to the animal arising from air transportation. All medical examinations/certificates and requirements/ papers for the animal’s entry to the target country are a matter for the passenger. On certain routes no animal transportation is permitted because of quarantine regulations
