Helvetic Airways further underlines its partnership with TIXI Zürich

The new VW Caddy Maxi vehicle, which has already been in service in and around Zurich for some weeks now, features a bench rear seat offering greater comfort and legroom, along with space to accommodate a second wheelchair. Greater safety is also assured through parking sensors, a rear-view reversing camera and a state-of-the-art emergency braking assistant.

“Our long-standing partnership with TIXI Zürich is hugely important to us, because TIXI plays such a vital role in helping its users lead independent lives,” says Tobias Pogorevc, CEO of Helvetic Airways. Petra Furrer, Managing Director of TIXI Zürich, is equally appreciative: “Helvetic Airways’ commitment to us,” she says, “is a key part of our TIXI support community.” The six vehicles of the TIXI Zürich fleet covered almost 300,000 kilometres last year. The vehicles, which all sport the Helvetic Airways logo, made a total of 12,555 journeys transporting their passengers safely and comfortably to their desired destinations.

Helvetic Airways is equally committed to operating advanced transport equipment, and is also gradually renewing its fleet. The first of 12 new Embraer E190-E2 aircraft will arrive this autumn. The state-of-the-art E190-E2 is quieter and more spacious, and offers higher comfort levels. The new twinjets are also easier on the environment, consuming up to 20 per cent less fuel than other regional aircraft. In the medium-term future, Helvetic Airways will operate one of Europe’s most advanced regional aircraft fleets.

TIXI Zürich has been working to assist people with reduced mobility for over 35 years. Last year its 400 voluntary drivers covered over 1.4 million kilometres with their 29 wheelchair-accessible vehicles and private cars. Thanks to them and its further partners, members and sponsors, TIXI brings greater mobility some 63,000 times a year into its users’ lives.

Swiss regional airline Helvetic Airways provides a range of short- and medium-haul air services from various Swiss airports. The carrier deploys its Embraer E190-E2, E195-E2 and E190-E1 aircraft on scheduled, charter and wet-lease flights. At least six Helvetic Airways Embraer E190-E2s and E195-E2s are being operated in winter 2023/24 and summer 2024 on behalf of Swiss International Air Lines in summer 2023 under a long-term wet-lease agreement.

The Helvetic Airways workforce numbers over 510 employees. The company also has its own maintenance hangar and operation at Zurich Airport, which is further home to its corporate head office. The airline offers innovative part-time employment models to its cockpit and cabin personnel. For its cabin attendants these include ‘Ski&Fly’, ‘Fly&Study’ and the fully flexible ‘Fly your way’ model. Details of current vacancies at Helvetic will be found at career.helvetic.com.

Helvetic Airways has been working closely with Horizon Swiss Flight Academy AG (www.horizon-sfa.ch), which is based in Kloten, Switzerland, since 2008. Both companies are part of the Helvetic Airways Group, which is domiciled in Freienbach, Switzerland.
