Virtual clubbing with Kuzey DJ and Helvetic Airways

A unique collaboration between Helvetic Airways and Switzerland’s DJ Kuzey has seen the Swiss regional airline’s Zurich Airport hangar transformed into the venue for an electronic music set. The audio and video stream will be broadcast on Easter Monday.

With the entertainment sector and the club scene in particular severely hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, Swiss regional airline Helvetic Airways has exceptionally made its maintenance hangar available to Winterthur DJ Kuzey for a very special event. On Friday 12 March the 3 000-square-metre space at Zurich Airport was transformed for an evening into Switzerland’s most exclusive club (minus guests, of course, in compliance with current legal provisions).

The Deep House-style electro set that Kuzey DJ created for the event will be broadcast next week, bringing the nightlife world into the living rooms of a Swiss and an international audience. What makes the show particularly special is the unique ambience, which features a small part of the Helvetic Airways Embraer E190-E2 aircraft fleet in the background and – as a genuine highlight – the very first arrival in Zurich of its latest addition, HB-AZH.

“It’s a real privilege to be able to continue my artistic activities, especially in such amazing surrounds,” says Kuzey. “It’s hard to imagine a more exclusive venue.”

“In supporting this project and offering our facilities, we want to make a positive gesture in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic,” explains René Mamet, Helvetic Airways’ Chief Operating Officer (Part-145). “And we want to show our affinity to the arts and culture world, too.”

The one-hour stream will be broadcast on Easter Monday 5 April at 19:00 on enjy.tv (powered by Swisscom blue TV). It will be simultaneously audio-broadcast on RadioDeep.

Swiss regional airline Helvetic Airways provides a range of short- and medium-haul air services from various Swiss airports. The carrier deploys its Embraer E190-E2, E195-E2 and E190-E1 aircraft on scheduled, charter and wet-lease flights. At least six Helvetic Airways Embraer E190-E2s and E195-E2s are being operated in winter 2023/24 and summer 2024 on behalf of Swiss International Air Lines in summer 2023 under a long-term wet-lease agreement.

The Helvetic Airways workforce numbers over 510 employees. The company also has its own maintenance hangar and operation at Zurich Airport, which is further home to its corporate head office. The airline offers innovative part-time employment models to its cockpit and cabin personnel. For its cabin attendants these include ‘Ski&Fly’, ‘Fly&Study’ and the fully flexible ‘Fly your way’ model. Details of current vacancies at Helvetic will be found at career.helvetic.com.

Helvetic Airways has been working closely with Horizon Swiss Flight Academy AG (www.horizon-sfa.ch), which is based in Kloten, Switzerland, since 2008. Both companies are part of the Helvetic Airways Group, which is domiciled in Freienbach, Switzerland.
