It bubbles, ripples and flows – water is omnipresent in Zurich. With its countless fountains in the old town and the lovingly named “Badis” (summer baths) at the beautiful Lake Zurich and in the rivers, Zürich is the city of water per se. The two double towers of the Grossmünster are the trademark of the city and characterise the cityscape. They tower high above the old town, with its grand guild houses and it is as if they are looking down over the colourful hustle and bustle of the city. Art and culture are also a priority in Zurich. As well as the celebrated opera house or the Kunsthaus, many small cultural institutions and diverse events ensure a lively and trendy cultural scene in Zurich. The city of experiences with a view of the majestic Alps offers an exciting mix and has long since been much more than just a banking location. Zurich has many distinctive places that couldn’t be any more contrasting: Hip clubs by night and venerable bathhouses during the day, traditional old town and trendy Züri West, a dazzling opera house and hip events, the Bahnhofstrasse as the home of exclusive international labels and the alleyways of the old town with their small antique shops and art galleries.
