In Summer 2010 Helvetic Airways will be flying to the Baltic Coast twice a week

"Holidays as far as the eye can see." This is the slogan of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region (Mecklenburg-Western Pommerania). Endless beaches, beautifully restored castles, numerous golf courses and cycle paths all go to make the Baltic Coast area an ideal holiday destination.

Helvetic Airways will be including these destinations in its schedule in the summer of 2010 and is pressing ahead systematically with the niche strategy. From May through to October flights will be offered to the Baltic Coast every Thursday and Sunday. This will make it possible to enjoy short stays and weekend breaks in this holiday region in the North which is just waiting to be discovered.

"Switzerland is an important market for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern," explains Bernd Fischer, Managing Director of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Tourist Association. "By August we'd had around 30,000 visitors here on holiday from Switzerland - there's an enormous potential in that market." The airport's connection to tourist centres all around the Baltic Coast - like Warnemünde and Heiligendamm - the Baltic resorts on Fischland-Darß-Zingst, the island of Rügen and in the Mecklenburg lakelands, make holiday areas which were once quite isolated both for visitors from abroad and for holidaymakers from this region much more accessible. We are really pleased that Helvetic Airways is going to bring this lovely region a metaphorical step closer to Switzerland."

Helvetic Airways will put the flights on-line in the next few days at www.helvetic.com.
