Helvetic Airways in the skies
In the 2007 / 2008 financial year, Helvetic Airways achieved a solid result from the wet lease and scheduled flight business. The ACMI partnership with Swiss International Airlines was strengthened, so that Swiss now has 3 Fokker 100s in its fleet. As a convenience airline, Helvetic Airways successfully positioned itself on the air traffic market in southern Italy, Sicily and Andalusia (Jerez de la Frontera). The airline also collaborated with various tour operators in charter traffic to offer flights to destinations in northern and southern Europe.
In 2007 / 2008, Helvetic Airways carried a total of more than 500,000 passengers. Bruno Dobler is optimistic about the summer and autumn of 2008, because the number of bookings is already significantly greater than at the same time last year.
Helvetic Airways has a strong focus on training its 120 employees. In view of the rapidly expanding air traffic, Helvetic Airways has entered into a broad agreement with the flight school Horizon Swiss Flight Academy Ltd., Bülach, Switzerland, (www.horizon-sfa.ch). In addition to training the cabin crew, they also offer comprehensive airline pilot training using state-of-the-art equipment, such as the flight simulator (D-Sim-42) and training aircraft (DA42 Twin Star).
Swiss regional airline Helvetic Airways has been offering a range of short- and medium-haul services from Swiss airports since 2006. The airline operates Embraer E190-E2, E195-E2, E190 and E195 aircraft on scheduled, charter and wet-lease flights. Under a long-term wet-lease agreement, up to 15 Helvetic Airways aircraft operate on behalf of Swiss International Air Lines.
Helvetic Airways employs around 600 people. The company also has its own maintenance hangar at its corporate headquarters at Zurich Airport, staffed by around 60 aircraft mechanics. The airline offers innovative part-time models in the cockpit and cabin such as, for cabin crew, the Ski&Fly and Fly&Study options as well as the fully flexible Fly your way model. Helvetic Airways works closely with Horizon Swiss Flight Academy AG, based in Kloten since 2008 (www.horizon-sfa.ch). Both companies are part of the Helvetic Airways Group, headquartered in Freienbach, Switzerland.
